Project Staff
Purpose
The goal of the Project Staff program is twofold. The first is to give people an opportunity to experience short-term missions. The other is to provide opportunity to participate in the support of Youth With A Mission’s ongoing training and evangelism ministries. Our desire is to give a “hands-on” opportunity to express one’s gifts and talents and allow them to see the building of the Kingdom of God through their efforts. We try to place Project Staff in a working environment that suits their abilities and desires, and help meet the current needs in our support ministry areas as well. Project Staff get to work alongside our long-term staff and develop meaningful relationships that will give you insight into full time service. They are also able to attend most of our staff activities and occasionally be involved in outreach and evangelism.
The opportunities are endless! Opportunities include administration, childcare, construction, computer systems, clerical/data entry, graphic arts, hospitality, maintenance, communication, as well as summer programs and schools.
Expectations of Project Staff
As you are considering coming to YWAM Montana we want to let you know of our expectations of you as Project Staff.
- As project staff our expectation is that you would be here for a specific length of time. For the benefit of logistics and housing we would like to have those dates available before you arrive.
- One may serve as a project staff for a term of 1 month to 6 months after which time we encourage them to consider becoming a long-term volunteer staff.
- While working on that project you may also work in another department on the base half days. This helps to give you a better picture of YWAM Montana as well as helps the base run efficiently.
- You will also have the opportunity to participate with the rest of our staff in helping out in the Kitchen each quarter when students are absent from their work duties for due to outreach etc.
- here will also be opportunities to serve by signing up for Childcare once or twice a quarter. All of our staff and project staff go through a screening with in the first week to see if they are suitable to work with children as well as to protect our staff legally.
- As project staff we would ask that you attend our Monday morning Intercession times as well as our Tuesday morning staff meetings. Other meetings such as Friday night meeting are optional. (Your department may have other meetings that you need to attend.)
- The housing that we provide is in a dorm. For single we expect that you share a room with 1-2 others due to not having enough space for everyone to have their own room.
- If you are coming on to work with a school then there will be a day of Orientation that we ask you to attend when you first arrive. This is to benefit you so that you have a better knowledge of how the base works and how to find your way around.
Cost
As a project staff, you will be required to pay the same monthly fees as the long-term staff. By Law YWAM Montana can only process support for our long term staff. Therefore we are unable to process support for project staff or provide tax deductible receipts for your financial supporters. A general breakdown of the monthly cost is as follows:
- Room - $60 per single/$120 per couple
- Extra Room (when available) - $100
- Food - $50 per person/under 13 - $25
- Internet - $15 per person
- Membership Fee - $50 per person
- Laundry Fee - $5 per person
- Utilities - $10 per person
- Administration Fee - $3
Cost for a single person will average around $193 per month. Families can request for extra room for their children if needed. This only covers the cost of living on the base. We also recommend an extra hundred dollars each month to cover personal expenses.
