The SOW is a secondary school in the University of the Nations and is comprised of two distinct phases: a 4 month lecture phase the final section we call outreach which is highly recommended. This course is designed to continue the process of ministry preparation in worship leading and personal life skills. We believe that worship leading is an art that can be developed as a skill. In the process people discover their natural gifting and abilities while cultivating a living relationship with God. Though this course is not a music school there are workshops offered weekly during the program to help in the development of individual musical skills. Finally, we desire to see these learned skills applied to an overseas missions experience in accordance to the command of Jesus Christ "Go and make disciples of all nations, teaching them to obey everything" - Matt 28:19-20.
How will we accomplish this?
The objective of SOW is to stir the heart and mind of the disciple to a response of loving God through a life of obedience. We do this through weekly foundational topics designed to explore the aspects and current issues facing the church today. The end result is to produce a confident worshiper who can teach and lead others in the biblical ways of worship, as well as help discover and develop the individual's gifts. We believe that true worship can cross the socio-cultural barriers that exist today among people and nations.
Lecture Phase
During the four months of lecture time, we explore and discuss a wide variety of foundational topics relative to biblical worship of God. From lectures on leadership and team dynamics to heart issues and personal discovery this will be a great time of preparing for worship ministry. Here are a few topics covered in the SOW:
Outreach
The two month outreach will provide opportunities for students to lead corporate worship in settings beyond the classroom. Participants are actively involved in ministry, applying what has been taught during the lecture phase in the form of teams. These teams participate in meeting the needs of the Local Church by helping develop and equip others for worship ministry and practical service both home and abroad.
