is dts right for me?

"Is a DTS the right thing for me? Am I ready to do a DTS?"
A good question. First of all, let us say that we view everyone who applies as a potential "DTS-er" with something unique to contribute. That is how God views you, so we do too! However DTS is different to probably anything else you have done, or will do. Here are some things to consider as you apply to the DTS (these things will also more than likely come up within the application process too, so it's good to be thinking about them anyway). Remember, this "criteria" is not aimed at excluding people, but exists to keep the school on course with its objectives and goals.

  1. You need to be a Christian.
If you're not sure what this means for you, PLEASE call us and talk about it! We would love to discuss this with you personally.
  2. You DON'T need to be perfect!
Just be available for the Lord.
  3. As a student you should have a definite interest in and availability for world missions.
  4. You should be emotionally stable.
This means you should be free from life-controlling issues and able to maintain healthy emotional and mental habits. If you have been involved in psychiatric care you need to be exhibiting adequate emotional stability for a period of at least one-year.
  5. As a DTS student you should be able to take responsibility for your own spiritual growth.
There should be evidence of a hunger for God's Word and an attitude of seriousness toward setting aside this time to develop further as a servant in the Body of Christ.
  6. If you are married, your marriage should be stable & free from major issues. There should not be an expectationthat this program will some how 'fix' your marriage. Both husband and wife should feel the call to DTS, including the Outreach. As long as you communicate well with each other and are able to focus outward, you should be fine.
  7. The DTS program is offered for all ages. While the amjority of students may be younger singles, our students' ages range from 18-80. Whether single, married, or parents, you are welcome to apply for DTS in Montana.
  8. If you've been in a group home ( disciplinary or rehabilitation ) living environment, a six month period of time should lapse from the time you leave that environment before you attend a DTS.
