Overview
The IPHC is an intense 6-month course where you can focus on the Lord and devote your heart to Him while discovering your place in world missions. It is not designed to emphasize any specific avenue of ministry; but rather, our main focus is to introduce you to missions and a closer walk with Jesus, and learning how to minister to the poor and needy.
This school is an entry-level course designed to help those with or without prior knowledge of health care. You can have an impact on nations, communities, and individuals by learning to be equipped as primary health care workers. Students benefit from the expert instruction of practicing professionals including physicians, nurses, physician assistants, dental hygienists, social workers, and health educators.
Lecture Phase
The three (3) month lecture phase includes:
- Fundamentals of anatomy and physiology
Basic knowledge and function of the human body helping students to understand the disease process. - Strategies in primary health care
Topics include immunization, the most common diseases in developing nations, malnutrition, dehydration in children, and assessment and care of sick children. (Millions of children die each year from diarrhea and dehydration.) - Practical clinical skills

Outreach
Following the lecture phase are twelve (12) weeks of field assignment to developing nations. Students will work alongside physicians, physician’s assistants, nurses, laboratory technicians and other primary health care workers. Basic clinical skills, as well as skills in cross-cultural communication are practiced and developed. You will live in close proximity to the people in order to understand the practical problems faced in the developing nations. You will run clinics in villages and give out basic medicines and vitamins after going through a diagnosis process. You will also give basic health care seminars in villages to educate people on simple things they can do to stop sickness and keep healthy.
